The Ordinary and Extraordinary Farmer: Hu Xixiang

I am a child of farmers, and I firmly believed that my life would be engaged in farming when I was in high school. Because land gives me life, I should give my entire life in return.” In the dense mountains of the southern area of Yunnan province,  whole mountains and valleys are covered with green vegetation like a thick green quilt.  Hu Xixiang, was born in rural areas during China’s social and economic transformation. He is a wise and hard-working man who always entertains good expectations for the future.

Just like everyone else, Mr. Hu also thought to give up when frost struck, drought raged, market price fluctuated, products just entered new market and prices fell. But Mr. Hu said, “Whatever I do or wherever I go, I stand up to the challenge. We can’t yield to difficulties, we must persevere.”

The future development of Yunnan coffee definitely has unlimited potential, because there are many people like Mr. /Mrs. Hu who work hard for Yunnan coffee. Twenty years later, people are surprised to find the changes which these people have brought to this land, the community and the whole coffee industry. Coffee tells a story about intertwined fate between Mr. Hu and the land. He is devoted to his land. Moreover, as a coffee lover and practitioner, people admire his relentless pursuit for high quality and local development. We sincerely wish Yunnan coffee a bright future, and there will be more people like “Mr. Hu” who will lead Yunnan coffee to glory. “Coffee business is not trifle, we will continue to make Yunnan coffee become best quality coffee!”
