Luo Yunhua: a Determined Coffee Producer

The green coffee of Ning’er Yun Hua Coffee Co., Ltd won the 3rd place and the best washed process coffee with a score of 84.13 in 2017 Best of Yunnan Green Coffee Competition.

Luo Yunhua is the founder of Ning’er Yun Hua Coffee Co., Ltd and part of one the first group of growers to plant coffee in the Pu’er region. Mr. Luo had worked as an agronomist for Nestle for five years. With strong technical skills, he went back to his hometown of Pu Yi Village in Ning’er County and began to develop coffee by himself in 1998. He started by providing seedlings for purchase and mobilizing the Ha Ni people to plant coffee with a model of collaboration among company, plantation and farmers. With mountain elevations between 1300 to 1500meters and rich water and tree resources, he believes they can grow quality coffee consistently.

Beginning with a plantation area of 400mu (26.667ha), Mr. Luo has always been devoted to coffee growing and processing over the course of 18 years. He continued to expand and now owns 6 branch wet mills and has increased plantation area from 400mu (26.667ha) to 7000mu (466.667ha). There are now 400 families involved in farm management. Coffee planting and processing has become the main industry of the local Ha Ni people and has helped them end poverty.
